understanding ourselves better in relation to others
One of the most delightful things about the breadth of speakers that joins us On Friday, is the unique flavour that each one brings to what they are sharing, or imbuing us with.
First, enjoy this potent pause below, from the first session of a two-part series on Enneagrams we are in the process of with Saje Founder, Kate Ross LeBlanc. This grounding 5-minute mediation, was extended to our subscribers at the top of our weekly gathering in the first of Kate’s sessions on Enneagrams was absolutely beautiful. Drop in, and receive an opportunity to connect with your body, attune your thoughts, and feel your heart, in cohesion.
Now! Let’s dive into Enneagrams.
No idea what Enneagrams are? We have been learning so much from her. It’s been fun and refreshing. Essentially, our Enneagram personality is 1 of 9 types, each in one of three categories:
Body, Heart, Head.
A poignant realization for us as humans is that “the rest of the world doesn’t see things the way we do” and the Enneagram helps us to understand ourselves and live in better harmony with each other.
Going a bit deeper, she shared that at some point we “armour up” as a child, and the personality we have we developed in some part was developed to defend ourselves. Think of it as a “suit” we may have put on in our younger years, and has become who we are.
Each Enneagram Personality Type has their own key motivations and fears that largely guide their actions and decisions. Understanding your primary type can be a powerful tool for self knowledge and improvement in all areas of your life, both at home and in the workplace.
Body—Enneagram type 9, 8, 1
Heart—Enneagram type 3, 4, 2
Head—Enneagram type 7, 6, 5
You can take a test to learn yours here.
For your reference and to pique your interest, here is a snip-it of each from my notes. You perhaps may even have a “feeling” of which one you are before taking the test, just from reading this (see Enneagram Personal Type image below/to the right).
Kate reminds us to not be too “prescriptive” from this test, and it’s really about self-discovery.
To grow yourself, you must know yourself.
